Welcome New 153 President Jessica Timo!

At the May 16 Executive Board Meeting, OPEIU Local 153 President Steven Turkeltaub announced that he was retiring from his job after 49 years as a member of the local. With this, he announced he would be leaving his role as the elected President of Local 153.

The local’s next presidential election is in September 2024. In the meantime, the Executive Board has nominated and approved Jessica Timo to be the interim President of Local 153. Timo is a lead steward at the United Federation of Teachers and has been a member of Local 153 for over 30 years. She is a strong union leader who is ready to take on this critical leadership position.

At the May 16 General Membership meeting, the new President addressed the membership to the excitement of the attendees.
